Top 5 Films

December 1st 2006 10:25
Withnail and I

I'm going away for a few days so I'm just doing a short post on each of my blogs today.

What are your top five films of all time?

Now I've thought long and hard about this one. It's a top 5 that has been with me for at least 3 years now and hasn't changed as yet. Apologies for the large amount of Robert De Niro films.

Taxi Driver
Withnail and I
The Godfathers 1 and 2 (a bit of a cheat, I know)
Raging Bull
Boogie Nights

I can safely say that 'Taxi Driver' is the best film I have ever seen and that it is 99.999999% likely that I will never see a film that is better. Very few films are as perfect as Taxi Driver.

there pretty cool films. i'm into more messed up, insane and experimental films. My most beloved one is ROSEBERY 7470 by sydney based experimental filmmaker Stefan Popescu. It is totally insane! it's like Stan Brakhage meets Polanski an acid and viagra!!
ROSEBERY 7470 is an abject, incest, love story with suicide, sexual abuse, zombies and gunshot to the vagina! a must see... Your text goes here

Wings of Desire (Wim Wenders)

That's strange because I don't think I'll ever see a movie that's better than Goodfellas. Holy shit is that script tight!

Once Upon a Time in the West is amazing, though, too.

Hate doing favourites lists because its to tough, so mine is just a list of 5 films from different genres that I watch a lot....

John Frankenheimer's Seconds
Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch
Francis Ford Coppolla's The Conversation
Akira kurosawa's Ran
Coen Brothers Miller's Crossing

I've seen three of those (haven't seen Ran or Seconds).

I really liked The Conversation, it needs more big ups - so good work John!

I'll just have to have another go because every day brings up something different

Goodfellas - Yeah, of course
Kurasawa's Ran- That deserves a fan club
Coen's Blood Simple
Welles "Touch of Evil"

and ummmm... let's really stick my neck out with JSA: Joint Security Area. and that forgets Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. The new directors cut of that is frigging awesone.
